THE SUBWAY
The metro has three lines, green, orange, and yellow although yellow was only built for the 2016 Olympics. The yellow line goes from Ipanema and goes to Barra de Tijuca. The most common line for tourists is the orange line since it goes through all the common tourist places. It runs Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 12 am and then on Sundays it runs from 7 am to 11 pm. The tickets cost R$4.30.

THE BUS
The busses are hard to navigate and understand. there are two main bus lines, Troncal 1 and Troncal 2. They will both take you through the main parts of the city. There are other Troncals but they go through the north part of the city where tourists will not likely go. The running times for busses varies and each ticket costs R$3.60 which is the same at the BRT.
